5 Styling Tips for Petite Women

Hi everyone,

Happy Tuesday everyone! I hope you are having a good week. I am sorry I am late today but I fell yesterday. I am not yet ready to talk about it other than to say that I am intense pain nothing worse than what I experienced after my last C-Section. Anyway, I am not here to talk about this- It shall pass soon (I hope). Today, I'm sharing 5 styling tips for petite women.

  • Think about proportions: select clever two-pieces that nip and tuck at the waist, showing your figure to full effect and giving a more grown-up kind of vibe. Structured skirts or blazers will be your best friend, and anything high-waisted will be a winner.
  • Wear flare denim or pants: these retro jeans/pants really do have their place in the modern world. And that place is somewhere everyone appears to have long legs. Shorter girls should opt for a high-waisted pair, with the flare starting at the knee, and team with some high heels for maximum impact.
  • Wear maxi skirts/dresses with a slip: A dress or high waisted skirt with a side split will counteract the blocky, frumpy feel these kinds of dresses can create, giving more definition and balance to smaller figures. Rulling up the sleeves can also make a difference.
  • Opt for skirts that sit just on or above the knee:  Or if you are wearing a skirt below the knee, avoid chunky shoes. Flared or skater are best to elongate your legs even further. I love my midi/tea-length skirt/dress but they aren't the best option for petite women.
  • A peplum blazer is your best friend: Super short blazer styles that nip and then flare at your hips are perfect for giving the body more definition. Choose shorter, tailored jackets over longline duster coats any day. Or my personal tricks since I also like a longline blazer is to wear it with high-waisted bottom and high heels.

So if you are 5'4'' and under, you are definitely a petite women. Wearing form fitting outfit and monochromatic looks are also great option for us petite women. I am 5'1'' and people are alway surprised when  I tell them. Mostly because I'm always wearing some 4'' or 5'' heels :-). But knowing how to balance definitely help to create the illusion that you have a normal height.
