It takes way more than style and nice clothes to be an elegant lady. An elegant woman is poised and polite. She smiles often and makes eye contact. She speaks clearly and avoid using slang that isn't familiar to the people she is talking to. Kind and respectful to everyone around her, she cares about her appearance and takes time to groom herself. With that said here's 5 of the steps to master in order to become an elegant woman:
- Be kind and respectful to others : It's important to be polite and always remember your manners. Say "please", "thank you", "sorry" and "excuse me" when it is necessary. Remember to treat everyone you meet with the same level of respect no matter who they are. Show kindness to others by helping them whenever possible.
- Give compliments: If you notice something you like or appreciate about someone, tell them. Compliment a friend’s outfit/style, praise a coworker for a job well done, and tell your significant other how much you appreciate them. Not only it will make them feel great, it will help you bond with them.
- Develop poise: Carry yourself gracefully and in a ladylike manner. Pull your shoulders slightly back, lift your head up a little, and straighten your back. Cross your legs or ankles when seated. Show confidence using your body language, and avoid slouching, crossing your arms, or fidgeting.
- Always Maintain your composure: Do your best to stay calm and collected, no matter the circumstances. If something upsets you, stop and take several deep breaths.
- Be authentic: Take the time to observe how you act and react to people around you. Self-awareness is the key here. Once you understand and accept yourself for who you are, you can work on being true to yourself.

I love your "super old" maxi! I know one thing I need to work on is my posture: sitting or standing straight doesn't always come naturally.
ReplyDeletewww.chezmireillefashiontravelmom.com
Thank you. The dress is almost 9 years old. so yes super old.
DeletePosture is important. A bad posture also makes you look older than you actually are. Don't be too hard on yourself- it takes some practice to get there :-).
I love this frock - I also firmly believe I am more elegant in all respects when I dress well. An elegant frock gets me through the day with more poise than my trackie daks for sure.
ReplyDeleteA woman should always be well dressed and put together. However, I offered a few additional characteristics to work on in order to become a real "lady".
