Dress to Impress @Khiani + 10 wedding guest faux pas to avoid

Hi everyone,

As part of our holiday series, today we are featuring this gorgeous and elegant gown from Khiani. I won't say much about it except that it speaks to me. I am a ballgown girl and this more fashion forward take on that silhouette (with the gigantic front split) made that dress so unique. So festive!

Talking about festivity and since it is basically the wedding season, today I will be sharing 10 wedding guest faux pas to avoid:

  1. Getting Drunk and making a scene: Consuming too much alcohol could mean that you accidentally make a scene, say the wrong thing, or even fall over and hurt yourself. So be responsible! Party hard, but drink in moderation
  2. Wearing a white dress: The biggest fashion faux pas of all time.  The last thing you want to do is look like you were attempting to steal limelight from the bride. Unless, you receive an invitation to an all-white affair, play it safe and opt for a colorful alternative.
  3. Arriving late to the Ceremony (need to do better at it myself): If you are lucky enough to make it to the invitation list, the least you can do as a guest is have the courtesy to arrive on time (if not early!)
  4. Bringing an uninvited plus-one: Don't show up with an unexpected date if your invitation didn't specify you have one. Or at least, have the courtesy to ensure that it is ok with the bride and be mindful that the couple might occur additional charges for that extra one. 5. Making a grand announcement: So not the time, to get under the spotlight to announce that you are expecting or just get engaged. Do not attempt to make the event about you.

  1. Being glued to your phone screen: Switch your phone to silent mode and try to enjoy the event. Survey shows that 8% of wedding guests have had their phones ring during a ceremony. Don't make that list, be polite and enjoy the ceremony.
  2. Taking more than one favor: Don't we all love them? Although most of the time we throw them away after a couple days :-). Don't be inconsiderate, and while it may not seem like a big deal at the time, it could mean that another guest goes home empty-handed.
  3. Talking during the toasts: The night is long so you will have plenty of time to gossip. The wedding party members have been planning what to say for months. Listen to their speeches- however long they may be.
  4. Hitting on a member of the wedding party: There is something about watching two people make the biggest commitment of their lives that awakes the inner romantic in all of us. Still, whether you're interested in one of the groomsmen or bridesmaids, putting the moves on a wedding party attendant is undeniably clichéd.
  5. Staying far too late: Know when it is your cue to leave. Bride and groom have other business to attend... When you see the event is coming to a natural close, it's time to say goodbye!

So which one (s) of those faux pas make you feel guilty. Don't be shy, comment below and let's talk about it. I personally have to do better on point 3. Always fashionably late...
