Hi Everyone,
I love perfumes. So when I randomly asked if it would be of interest to share my collection with you and I had a few positive feedback so I did not hesitate a bit. Here we are with a fragrance blog post but let us be honest: Fragrance is the finishing touch of one outfit.
I am a moody fragrance lover: I may not like you today but I may find myself in love with you another day and vise-versa. I love how a fragrance can bring so many good memories. I have been collecting perfumes for over 10 years now and had hundreds of them. While some I only had/ purchased once; others I just can't leave without. My palate has changed considerably in 10 years went from girly to more mature. I mostly collect designer and niche fragrances as I found celebrity fragrances to be weak and sometimes smell cheap to me.
What do I like in a fragrance: Good longevity, great sillage - Power house in one word. I am mostly a gourmand fragrance lover with a little mix of everything - am I making sense? If I had to summarize, I would say I am in between floral & oriental.
Before we get to my fragrance collections and a few picks I would like to share with you, let's review how the fragrance mavens categorized the scents/perfumes based on their compositions:
The Perfume wheel
Getting a little deeper, here's an idea of the notes per fragrances type.
So with that said, breaking down my love for Floral & Oriental, I love: sweet & white florals, fruity florals, gourmand and a little spicy, a little powdery, and citrusy. My favorites notes are: vanilla, sweet spices, tonka bean, patchouli, Iris, white florals. I also like musk when done properly. That doesn't mean that I can't appreciate a nice clean scent or any other type of fragrance especially if they have that sweet undertone that I love. Am I making any sense? With that said, here's some snap shot of my fragrance collection. I do have quite a few and I was not able to gather some of them for the shout. Please visit my fragrantica profile, if you are interested in seeing my complete collection (click here).

How I actually store them (away from the sunlight). I also have a few shelves where I keep the ones that can't fit on that drawer chest). |
If you wonder, I have 106 fragrances in total: Bath&BodyWorks, VictoriaSecret body sprays not included. I used to get 3.4oz bottles but now 1.oz is enough, I decided to only purchase large bottles if I am really in love with a scent. Don't laugh- Not funny! Since I am not able to share 100+ pictures today I will break it down into a few categories featuring mostly what I have been using lately.

That is quite a collection! I do not wear perfume as they usually give me a headache but I love Eau de toilette so I have one that my husband gave me and two my friend in France send me. I usually alternate through them.

Well - They sometimes give me allergies but my love for them always win lol ;-)
DeleteReally enjoyed this post and seeing all your perfumes! Very informative. I have a few of the ones you included. My absolute favourite is Diorella, a chypre, in the original parfum formulation. I have one tiny bottle left!
ReplyDeleteHi Gail, I read that layering Diorella and Mitsuko is the bomb. If you have both, you should try wearing them together ;-)
DeleteYou have an enviable fragrance collection! Thanks for linking up with the Style Six!
ReplyDeletexo,
Kellyann
Thanks Kellyann
DeleteFragnance and perfume a big fan. I have a few of those ones. You know my favorite for all the time is Flowerbomb and Lady million. I see your face when you read this, lol....
ReplyDeletelol- It's ok to love sweet floral oriental fragrance. but leaving in the caribbean you need a freshy or 2. You should try the Acqua Di Gioia (fresh and sweet and so sexy), Light blue intense, coco mademoiselle. By the way, oriental sweet - you should try Aquolina Pink Sugar and "I don't need a prince to be a Princess by Kilian (this one is the bomb)- Flowerbomb can't stand -lol. If you like Viktor and Wolf Magic Liquid Gold is a nice fresh/sweet as well. Lol
DeleteGucci Bamboo too - sweet & fresh ;-)
DeleteThat is a crazy collection of perfumes! I have such a hard time finding any that I like. My sense of smell is super sensitive and very fickle. Perfumes have to be very mild for me even tolerate them. This was a really fun post! I wish I could smell them all!

Thanks Shelbee if you like mild scent you should stop by Sephora and give the Chance EDT a sniff: the Eau Vive or Eau Fresh or Eau Tendre are great options. Xo
DeleteThanks for the recommendation! I will check it out.
DeleteYou have such an awesome collection of perfumes! It's nice you know so much about the scents and how to describe them too - all mine are a little different but I love them equally even if I couldn't tell you about the fragrance notes or anything, haha!
ReplyDeleteHope that you had a great weekend :) Thank you so much for joining the #weekdayWearLinkUp :) I just posted this week's linkup, I'd love you to join again! :)

What a great collection! :) My fave scent is Coco Chanel Mademoiselle. I have been wearing it since 2011! I just added Blackberry and Bay of Jo Malone last year. I alternate them
ReplyDeleteHey Sarah! - Thank you - I am addicted to fragrance. I am actually wearing Coco Mademoiselle as I am typing this but I prefer Coco over it because I like potent oriental scent - lol. You should try to mix Wood Sage & sea salt with Blackberry and Bay from Jo Malone - so nice. How is the longevity on you? I don't like that they don't last long on me :-)
DeleteWow! I thought I had a lot - thanks for showing us your collection. Jacqui xx
ReplyDeletelol - I still want more :-(
